First โ What Exactly Is a PDF?
A PDF is simply a type of document file โ think of it as a digital copy of a paper document. The letters stand for Portable Document Format, but all that really means is that the file looks the same on any phone, tablet, or computer.
Your phone carrier stores your monthly billing statements as PDF files. When you download your bill, that is the file you are looking for. It will have a name like T-Mobile_Bill_January2026.pdf and will end in .pdf
Download your Summary Bill โ not your Detailed Bill
Most carriers offer two versions of your bill as a PDF. We only need the Summary Bill โ the short version that shows your charges, plan, equipment, and subscriptions. Typically 4โ6 pages.
Do not upload a Detailed Bill. That version includes records of every call, text, and data session โ personal information that is not needed for your analysis and makes the file much larger. If you see an option that mentions "call detail," "usage detail," or "itemized," that is the detailed version โ skip it.
T-Mobile
My T-Mobile app or t-mobile.com
Summary bill only. T-Mobile offers both a Summary and a Detailed bill. The summary is typically labeled "Bill PDF" or "Download Bill" and is 4โ6 pages. If you see an option mentioning "usage detail" or "call records," skip it โ that is the detailed version we do not need.
On a computer the PDF downloads directly to your Downloads folder. You can find it by opening File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) and clicking Downloads.
Summary bill only. When downloading on t-mobile.com, choose the standard bill PDF โ not any "detailed" or "usage" option. The summary is the shorter document showing your charges and plan.
AT&T
myAT&T app or att.com
If you have trouble finding the download option in the app, the computer method is often easier for AT&T customers.
Summary bill only. AT&T may offer a "Detailed Bill" or "Itemized Bill" option โ skip that. We only need the standard bill summary showing your charges. It is typically labeled "View Bill" or "Download PDF" without any mention of call detail.
Summary bill only. On att.com, look for the standard "Download PDF" option โ not "Detailed Bill" or "Itemized." The summary bill is typically 4โ6 pages and shows your charges without call records.
Verizon
My Verizon app or verizon.com
Verizon sometimes labels this "Print Bill" โ if you tap that option, look for "Save as PDF" instead of actually printing.
Summary bill only. Verizon may offer a "View Usage" or detailed option โ skip those. We only need the standard monthly bill summary. It is typically a shorter PDF showing your charges, plan, and equipment.
On a Windows computer, when the print dialog opens, look for "Save as PDF" in the printer dropdown. On a Mac, click the PDF button in the bottom left of the print dialog.
Summary bill only. On verizon.com, download the standard bill PDF โ not "Usage Details" or any itemized option. The summary bill is all we need.
Other Carriers
Most carriers follow the same basic pattern. Log into your account โ in the app or online โ go to your billing or account section, find the bill you want, and look for a Download or PDF button.

Don't see your carrier listed? The pattern is almost always the same โ log in, find Billing or Account, select the month, look for Download or PDF. If you get stuck your carrier's customer service can walk you through it โ that's a quick question that doesn't require hold time.
What If I Only Have a Paper Bill?
Good news โ even if you receive paper statements, your carrier almost certainly has digital copies available. Here are two reliable options:
Log into your carrier account online. Even if you receive paper bills, your carrier stores digital copies of your statements in your online account. Use the instructions above to download those PDF copies. Your login credentials are the same ones you use on the app.
Call your carrier and ask for paperless billing. This switches you to digital statements going forward and usually makes past statements available online immediately. It takes about two minutes on the phone and is a quick question that does not require hold time.
